Following recent concerns from many citizens regarding safety in traffic on Fourth Street, Augusta police chief Matt Jones was kind enough to develop two plans that would change traffic flow and street parking on Fourth Street.

The first plan is to only allow parking on the north side of Fourth between Bracken Street and Main Street. No parking on south side.

The second plan is to make Fourth Street a one way street from Bracken Street to Main Street. This plan would allow parking on both sides of the street as it is under the current format.

Police Chief Jones reiterated at the most recent council meeting that these plans are not proposals. These plans are potential options for Augusta’s citizens and council to review. Matt worked hard on these plans which include the appropriate signage as well.
