Harman Blennerhassett was an Irish born aristocrat and lawyer who lived in England. He moved to America after his family disowned him for marrying his cousin after being sent to rescue her from the French Revolution. He and his wife bought an island in the Ohio river near Parkersburg, West Virginia. Aaron Burr learned of the wealthy aristocrat's move to the island and visited Blennerhassett seeking financial and political favors. Blennerhassett jumped fully into Burr's plan to create a super-Western world which included removing Thomas Jefferson from power. After Thomas Jefferson had learned of the plot, Blennerhassett's secret camp in Marietta, Georgia was destroyed on December 19, 1806 and Blennerhassett fled his island in the Ohio with 50 others. He made a mysterious pit stop here in Augusta on the winter solstice, December 21, 1806. That's where this story gets really weird and poses more questions beyond your wildest imagination. While building his home on Riverside Drive in 1792, General John Payne discovered over 100 ancient human skeletal remains. The skeletons were of unusually tall ancients. Payne says some were seven feet in height. His friend, David Kilgour, was a very tall and large man and one skeleton was 10 to 12 inches taller than he and the jaw bone could have slipped over his entire face.
Payne also says that no local Native chiefs had knowledge of the people and noted that very large, old trees had been growing over the remains before the lands were cleared in 1792. In the early 1800's, the average height of an adult male was 5'8". But this was the remains of someone from thousands of years before when the average height was much shorter. Or were they? Was this the remains of an ancient civilization yet discovered? A civilization that existed before the Bering Strait migration? I have always been told that Augusta was built on an ancient, Native burial grounds. But could the remains have been much older than that? Were they actual giants? It's like something straight out of Ancient Aliens!

John Payne was a noted Free Mason. Free Masons at this time, despite most being of Christian faith, believed in the blessing and spiritual benefits of ancient natives. Free Masonry has also been notorious for withholding knowledge with its secret society. Blennerhassett was an occultist who also believed in these paranormal and spiritual ceremonies and the same secrecy practices with his group. This man traveled to Augusta, in a last ditch effort to remain alive, and called upon an unknown ancient civilization that was buried right here in Augusta. A race of ancient giants? This will be an ongoing story and I will be searching for more information. If any reader has any more information of Payne's skeletal remain or the Blennerhassett visit, please contact me.
